Dr. Martin Muchangi

Dr. Martin Muchangi

Dr. Martin Muchangi is a distinguished public health specialist, climate and health expert with over 17 years of experience designing, implementing, and evaluating public health programmes across Africa. He serves as Director for Population Health and Environment at Amref Health Africa, leading strategic initiatives on climate change and health, environmental health, WASH, NTDs and Public Health Security. He is the Principal Investigator of the IDRC-funded ESA Hub Climate Change and Health Project and Director of the Centre for Research and Policy in Climate Change and Health at Amref International University. He is also a Coordinating Lead Author for Chapter 19 of the IPCC Seventh Assessment Report (AR7). He holds a PhD in Public Health and an MPH in Epidemiology and Disease Control.

Sarah Kosgei is a visionary strategic leader at Amref Health Africa, driving critical work on Global Health Security and Climate Change and Health across sub-Saharan Africa. With over 12 years of experience, she is a leading architect at the One Health nexus, designing multisectoral systems that unite human, animal, and environmental health. As Programme Manager for the ESA Hub, Sarah oversees strategic leadership, resource optimisation, and stakeholder engagement between partners and sub-grantees. She holds an Executive MBA in Global Health Leadership and a Master's in Public Health.

Dr. Humphrey Agevi

Dr. Humphrey Agevi

Dr. Humphrey Agevi is an environmental scientist, researcher, and science-to-policy leader with extensive experience in climate change, health, biodiversity, adaptation, and sustainable development across Africa. With over a decade of experience in research, academia, and policy advisory work, he has contributed to regional and global initiatives addressing the intersections of climate change, health, ecosystems, and development. He is the Project Coordinator for the ESA Hub and supports activities in the Centre for Research and Policy in Climate Change and Health at Amref International University. He holds a PhD in Environmental Biology.

Prof. Adelaide Lusambili

Prof. Adelaide Lusambili

Prof. Adelaide Lusambili is a Pan-African climate and health scientist whose work spans impact, intervention, and policy translation. She is the Lead of the Environmental Health and Governance (EHAG) Centre at Africa International University, and Founder of NextGen for Earth. She is Principal Investigator on three major studies: HEARTH, ACACIA, and SENIORS. She has authored over 80 peer-reviewed papers, shaped global climate policy from COP26 through COP29, and her work has been featured in Science, The New York Times, National Geographic, and the BBC.

Prof. Britt Nakstad

Prof. Britt Nakstad

Prof. Britt Nakstad is a medical doctor trained in paediatrics and neonatology, and Professor of Neonatology and Paediatrics at the University of Botswana. Previously a professor at the University of Oslo for 18 years, she has produced more than 200 peer-reviewed papers related to climate change and health, newborn diseases, growth and development. She co-established the Journal of African Neonatology.

Dr. Oliver Moses

Dr. Oliver Moses

Okavango Research Institute, University of Botswana · Botswana

Dr. Oliver Moses is a climate scientist specialising in climate variability, climate change, and extreme weather events in southern Africa. He is a Senior Research Fellow in Climate Change Science at the Okavango Research Institute and Coordinator of the Climate Change Program. With over two decades of experience, he has published extensively in international peer-reviewed journals. The International Astronomical Union named asteroid 28623 "Olivermoses" after him in 2023.

Olga Laiza Kupika

Olga Laiza Kupika

Olga Laiza Kupika is a Senior Research Fellow in Climate Change Adaptation at the Okavango Research Institute. She is an African Group of Negotiators (AGNES) alumnus and a CIRCLE and CR4D Postdoctoral fellow. Her research spans climate change impacts and adaptation across agriculture, health, biodiversity, water and tourism.

Dr. Vincent Pagiwa

Dr. Vincent Pagiwa

Dr. Pagiwa is a public health specialist with more than 17 years of experience, specialising in health policy and systems research and the climate change-health policy nexus. He led the founding secretariat of the CHANCE Network, contributing to climate change and health policy development in Africa. He has participated in COP27, COP28, and the African Climate Summit. He holds a DrPH from La Trobe University.

Dr. Samuel Muhula

Dr. Samuel Muhula is a seasoned epidemiologist with 15 years of experience. He serves as Senior Manager for Learning and Impact at Amref Health Africa Headquarters, supporting country teams across eight African countries. He has led research in sexual and reproductive health, infectious diseases, and WASH. He holds a PhD in Epidemiology from JKUAT.

She serves as Co-Principal Investigator representing KPMG in the ESA Hub.

Dr. Walter P. Mukhwana
